You need to "think outside of the small box" that you're in, Ludovic.

That's what toopid says to me when he authoritatively makes comments
about another area in which he does not have the foggiest idea of what
he's talking about: military matters.

It seems that toopid thinks that he's an expert in all sorts of areas
that he has no experience, training, or knowledge in.

Do you want to know how to pilot a supersonic fighter in combat and
then safely land on an aircraft carrier with a strong crosswind? Do you
want to know how to make a perfect souffle? Do you want to know how to
expertly perform Bach on the lute? Or how to design the perfect drug
test, or how to array your infantry formation tactically? Or how to
build the best pipe organ ever?

Just ask toopid: I'm sure that he knows. LOL!

+++++++++++++++++++++

In a way it is even more simple than lack of knowledge.
The underlying problem is semiliteracy. Mr. ScottW simply does not know
what the big words he uses: like "perception" mean. As a esult he
waffles on at best muddle-headed, at worst incomprehensible using a
mish-mash of terms that he does not understand but is too ignorant to
recognise that and look up a good dictionary ..

Poor Ludo....you don't realize how ironic you are.
You can't even properly phrase an insult.

Actually, he nailed you. I don't think it was intended as an insult,
either. Just the facts, ma'am.

But you go, girl...;-)

Again semiliteracy interferes. Scottie dear you tried for wit and you
came up with a stylistic horror.

You did not mean to say that I was being ironic ( I was Scottie)! but
that the clash between what I actually said and what I intended to say
struck YOU as ironical..

May I in all kindness suggest that before you rush to the keyboard
again you ask someone competent to read and advise.. Someone like the
other master of amusing and trnsparent style-
Like for instance Arny Krueger?

You like the above as a teaching example of what irony means? Not too
subtle but we 're at the elementary-introductory stege.
Ludovic Mirabel
My post was not "insulting". No more than the barely passing grade that
you wrung out at your school was an insult. ItBoth wer meant as an
incentive for you to try harder.

No Scottie , dear boy. As per usual you got the wrong end of the stick.
No one questions what you MEANT to say. The point is that was NOT what
you SAID because you're not literate enough,to convey your meaning and
your language skills are not up to even the simplest declarative
sentence.
This is what you said verbatim (once again ad nauseam):
Poor Ludo....you don't realize how ironic you are.
You can't even properly phrase an insult.

Webster:. "Irony... a method of humorous or subtly sarcastic expression
in which the intended meaning of the words used is the direct opposite
of their usual sense".
Did you mean to chastise me because "I don't realise how ironiic I
am"?
This a straightforward IQ qustion. The answer is not more waffle but
simple yes or no?

Or did you want to say that imy inability to "properly phrase an
insult" is ironical/funny when I dare to question your language
skills?

Which, Scottie? The first or the second?

Try to learn that exclamations like "pathetic" are more convincing when
backed by a direct quote.
No fees for trying to teach you to think and express your thoughts
lucidly.
Your unspoken gratitude is my reward.

aircraft carrier with a strong crosswind? Do you
want to know how to make a perfect souffle? Do you
want to know how to expertly perform Bach on the
lute? Or how to design the perfect drug test, or
how to array your infantry formation tactically?
Or how to build the best pipe organ ever?

Just ask toopid: I'm sure that he knows. LOL!

+++++++++++++++++++++

In a way it is even more simple than lack of
knowledge.
The underlying problem is semiliteracy. Mr. ScottW
simply does not know what the big words he uses:
like "perception" mean. As a esult he waffles on at
best muddle-headed, at worst incomprehensible using
a mish-mash of terms that he does not understand
but is too ignorant to recognise that and look up a
good dictionary ..

Poor Ludo....you don't realize how ironic you are.
You can't even properly phrase an insult.

ScottW
---------------------

ScottW commiserates:
Poor Ludo....you don't realize how ironic you are.
You can't even properly phrase an insult.

ScottW

Again semiliteracy interferes. Scottie dear you tried
for wit and you came up with a stylistic horror.

Sorry, but you're wrong again. I find no humor in how
sad and pathetic you've become over ABX.

You did not mean to say that I was being ironic ( I
was Scottie)!

How futile are you when you're left trying to
claim someone didn't mean to say what they said?
Pathetic.
The rest of your babble isn't worth deciphering.

ScottW
======================================
It is quite a task to make the semiliterate understand
where and how they betray theimselves.. Obviously if
they knew howlers by instinct they would not come up
with them again and again.

But charity is my weakness: I will follow ScottW
blundering further into the labirynth of his own making:

WTH is a labirynth? Keep it up Ludo...how many times can
you idiotically (you're well past ironic) accuse
illiteracy
while proving the shallowness of your own?
I suspect you can do this.....forever as long as ssshhhh
reassures you that a blithering hypocrite isn't all bad.

ScottW

==================================

I asked:Mr. Scott:

Did you mean to chastise me because "I don't realise
how ironiic I am"?
This a straightforward IQ qustion. The answer is not
more waffle but simple yes or no?

And this is how he answers:

WTH is a labirynth? Keep it up Ludo...how many times can
you idiotically (you're well past ironic) accuse
illiteracy
while proving the shallowness of your own?
I suspect you can do this.....forever as long as ssshhhh

Any more volunteers for teaching him grade 4 language
skills.? I tried.
Night classes?
Ludovic Mirabel

I'd repeat the old saw about the blind leading the blind, but that would
understate Scotty's English skills.

Thanks for showing once again that you are seriously lacking in
self-awareness, Ludo.

Just a typo or misspelling, not a lack of "self-awareness" which is RAO
short-hand for 'how dare you disagree with me' and unprovable without
engaging in that other RAO bugaboo, "delusions of omniscience."

Some googling...ah! a pictu

D&Store_Code=BADART&Product_Code=TheLabirynth&Cate gory_Code=Andreas

To guess from the names associated with that spelling, it may be an
accepted Eastern European form of the word or that certain languages
have a propensity for the misspelling.

The "Labirynth" looks like a cracked-out oneiromancer's vision of an Escher

This is acceptable under the usenet rule requiring a misspelling in any
spel flaim post. Let it slide, if you can.

Stephen

==================

Very shrewd. Polish spelling is "labirynt", Russian:"labirint", But
generalisations almost always suffer from fatal accidents: Italian-
labirinto, Spanish- laberinto :. Western enough?

In any case why not let ScottW. have that one moment of glory? He
spotted a misspelling.

I never sad he was illiterate (If I did it was another mispelling). He
can read and write and he can keep copying blogs and mag. editorials.
Now he proved that he can look up a dictionary when eager to find
misspellings.

What he can't do is to achieve the level of self expression and text
comprehension that would graduate him to form 5.

Being semiliterate is more of a nuisance to the bystanders flooded by
incomprehensible outbursts. Illiterates keep quiet.

toopid, he did not say you were incapable of spelling. He said you were
incapable of comprehension, and that you do not know what the meanings
are of the words that you choose to use. I think the precise word that
Ludo used was 'semiliterate.'

Here are some definitions for you, so that you do not continue to
blunder on your way, making an even bigger ass of yourself in the
process:

sem·i·lit·er·ate (sÄ•m'Ä“-lÄ*t'É™r-Ä*t, sÄ•m'Ä«-)
adj.
Having achieved an elementary level of ability in reading and writing.
Having limited knowledge or understanding, especially of a technical
subject.
semiliteracy sem'i·lit'er·a·cy (-ər-ə-sē) n.

WordNet
The adjective semiliterate has 3 meanings:
Meaning #1: literate but poorly informed
Meaning #2: barely able to read and write
Meaning #3: able to read but not to write

http://www.answers.com/topic/semiliterate

You have somehow transformed 'semiliterate' into 'illiterate' in your
'mind' which, of course, has an entirely different meaning. And then
you have the (lack of) brains to attack spelling. This absolutely
proves Ludo's point. Thanks for playing. Game over. LOL! Moron.

Do try to 'think' sometime... if you can.

LOL!

Moron. (That second "LOL! Moron." was r e d u n d a n t, toopid. Look
it up.) (In your case, the first "LOL! Moron." was redundant, too.)

All of this explaining the meaning and usage of words is simply noise to
Terrierdork. If one takes the charitable view, poor Scottie actually
deserves a pat on the head. Why? one might reasonably inquire. My
explanation is that Scooter perceived he was being corrected on a point of
word usage. To him, all topics related to language are a big fuzzy cloud of
imcomprehensibility. He doesn't understand any of it, so for Scottie, it's
all the same thing. When Ludo corrected his diction, Scottie thought
"language", and he went blank. Then he noticed Ludo's typo, which to him was
an error of equivalent depth and magnitude to whatever Ludo was telling him
about the meaning of words. To Scottie, a language error is a language
error. They're all the same. And so the kneejerk "irony" response was
triggered.

So let's remember Scooter's little triumph when we're slurping the bubbly
this weekend: To Scottiedork, who successfully understood that his idiocy
was recognized by yet another RAO poster.

==================================

I think we're all underestimating Mr. ScottW. The world is full of
businessmen and politicians with low literacy skills who manage to
outwit and outlast their brighter and better.

They have cunning..

Look at our own Mr.Scott. He managed successfully to divert the
discussion of his poor comprehension skills into an argument about a
typo.

And that was just his 3rd. try. I'm sure he has quite a few more up his
sleeve.

My question repeated again and again was...

"This is what you said verbatim (once again ad nauseam):
Poor Ludo....you don't realize how ironic you are.
You can't even properly phrase an insult.

Did you mean to chastise me because "I don't realise how ironiic I
am"?
This is a straightforward IQ qustion. The answer is not more waffle but

simple yes or no? "

Poor me thinking I pinned him down..

Scott's serial answer in his own inimitable meaning-devoid style. :

"WTH is a labirynth? Keep it up Ludo...how many times can
you idiotically (you're well past ironic) accuse illiteracy
while proving the shallowness of your own?
I suspect you can do this.....forever as long as ssshhhh
reassures you that a blithering hypocrite isn't all bad."

Who will bother to decipher the meaning? The purpose was to avoid
answering.
And he did - didn't he.

I repeated the question:: ScottW reaches for his native cunning.
He looks up the spelling of "ironic" and finds an ace.

".? ironiic .... Come on teacher....you should practice
what you preach, if you can."

He still did not answer the IQ/ language skills question but managed to
get everyone chasiing a red herring of a superfluous second "i"

Not so toopid our Scott
Ludovic Mirabel.

Somebody might (if they had a 'brain') ask, "Now why would that be?"

But we are, of course, talking about you.

Amazing.

Stupidity often is.

Welcome to your island.

That would imply that there are only three people who realize that you
are an idiot. The numbers are far greater than that, toopid.

Perhaps, if you think there really are only three people who realize
that you're an idiot, a more appropriate statement might be, "Welcome
to the vast ocean that surrounds my very small island."

LOL!

Ludo, not to be a stick-in-the-mud or anything, but doesn't the fact
that you have to explain what the argument is to toopid tell you
something?

And doesn't the fact that toopid is "amazed" at what is going on show
that he is not capable of understanding the world around him?

I do not pick up a trace of cunning on toopid's part. I sense the
denseness of a black hole.

While I do agree with you that stupid people can be cunning, the stupid
people who are capable of cunning are far smarter than our dear toopid.

Your analysis has merits.

Consider though that Scottie, unable to rise to Krueger's collection
of debating trade tricks, found his own way to stall a debate.
Dictionary in hand he scans for typos. He found one! Ole, ole! He pulls
the handle and waits for the coins to drop in his hat. .

Still not convinced? Then watch Scottie put on the crown of martyrdom.
He proclaims himself to be the prophet crying in wilderness, insulted
by the ignorant crowd (of three).
He announces he is the RAO's own littler Socrates sentenced by the
same crowd (of three) to commit suicide

He needs a respite. "Other topics" is what he doctor ordered..

But watch him remerge when it all dies down.
