What did you do at Phoenix Gold other then sweep the parking lot?

Oh boy, are we back on that one again? You think I'm lying?

Listen Howdy, this is REAL simple. Call The University of Portland Business
School and verify that Nicholas Victor Tanner got a Masters of Business
Administration degree in 1995. Then call Phoenix Gold and verify that
Nicholas Tanner worked there in their marketing dept. in 2000 (I believe
they will tell you that much).

THEN SHUT THE **** UP YOU MORON.

Hey, and while we're at it, what high-school do you CLAIM to have graduated
from? Will you give it to us like I just did for you so we can verify?
Also, where do you work as a janitor? Can we verify that as well?

Put up or shut up, moron.

Hey man, my *mom* was a janitor...for the private school she had my two
younger brothers in--it's the only way she could foot the bill.

So back off the janitorial slams or I'll...uhh....I'll....hrmm....what
will I do? I guess nothing, although given that only a couple hours'
drive separates us, I *could* theoretically look you up in the phone
book, drive to your house and "fork" your lawn. :-)

In all seriousness, Nick, why not just put this guy in your killfile
and ignore him for the rest of his days? Or do you find in the rage
some form of catharsis? ;-)

Sorry if I offended by the janitor remark.

Hello. I mosty agree with you except this paragraph. Mathematic,
acoustic, physic are all sciences. They are concrete, scientific,
rational.

On the other hand, the term "esoteric" is the very contrary to all this.
Here is this definition I found : "beyond ordinary knowledge or
understanding; hidden or inner knowledge reserved for initiates". We
are in the irrationnal, the voodoo, the 3000$ speaker cable!

Hence, anything based on scientific knowledge cannot be called esoteric.

The website I referenced is based on science, not voodoo. I'm sure
other sources of info may be found on google.

He might have added that by the time it changed hands - twice - PPI
wasn't the same then, either :-)

I was forced to quit both jobs and move back to my home town of Stanwood,

That makes you and I pretty much neighbors--I live in Kirkland. :-)

Furthermore, with the sale of Phoenix Gold and Keith no longer at the helm,
I'm not sure I would have still wanted to work there.

Yeah, Steve at JL told me that the industry as a whole has kinda taken
a slide...MB Quart, Precision Power, PG all changed hands and haven't
been the same since. :-(

You wondered why "everyone everywhere else but here knows this stuff"
(or something to that effect). That's because in the car audio realm,
unfortunately, the science of how this stuff all fits (or doesn't fit
together) is "beyond ordinary knowledge or understanding" and for those
who don't care to get into it, psychoacoustics and physics *are*
"hidden or inner knowledge reserved for initiates." It's not "ordinary"
for the typical car audio hobbyist to know this stuff.

Taken in context, "esoteric" _is_ fairly accurate. :-)

The website I referenced is based on science, not voodoo. I'm sure

The first thing I said was "good stuff", right? I recognize that it's
based on science. It's not esoteric to me--it makes perfect sense
because I've studied this stuff. Holding a degree in Electrical
Engineering helps, too...but only a little. :-)

Yes, a car have its own set of particular characteristics, but the laws
of physics don't cease to exists in a car either. And believe me, i'm
not dismissing the importance of the subjective part of seting up a
sound system. All of them.

The following is not directed at you specifically... it's a general
rant on the state of audio!

I'm about equally into car audio, live sound works, home hifi and home
theater. I surf various online forums and have no bias pro or con any
group.

It's always fun to watch users groups boast about this and that concepts
they have in their own group and think is exclusive.

Hifi have their "warm" tube amps and must bi-wire
Car audio have their "fast" 8 inches subs with mandatory dual voice coil
Live sound don't use those "whimpy" 12 inches drivers
Home theater speakers must always be "shielded"

Well, I got news for them!

Some pro amps are suitable in a home hifi
Some car subs are OK in the home theater
Some home subs are OK in cars
Some 12" car subs have more displacement than some pro 18"
Some pro gear have tubes. Some great hifi have ICs
You can built a home theater without shielded drivers
Pro cables can be oxygen free too!
Gold plated connectors are good idea in all of those industries
As is full range class-D

Etc...

You can do whatever works!!

The only thing constant in audio is that Bose sucks equally in cars,
live-sound, hifi and home theater!

End of rant. Good night!
