Homeless man designs amazing speakers (cnet article)
Cnet has a very interesting article on some interesting speakers
designed by Kevin Nelson, a currently homeless man. He had planned to show them at CES, but life got in the way. He claims that just one of his speakers can project a stereo image, but two is even better. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13645_3-10154055-47.html -- David Bath, RAHE co-Moderator |

An early version of such a speaker was demonstrated at the local AES meeting. When we went there to ;the store, the protoype speakers had the crossovers hanging out, etc, and the concept seemed to make a poor stereo image. The consultant to the store owner was one of the original AR speaker designers. I think he had a patent on the speakers that shot out the side of the box. That was at least 5 years ago. Here is the link to the current version which is called the quartet. The box looks highly improved over the original version, not having parallel sides.. http://www.vanlspeakerworks.com/ Norm |

I wondered what Mr. Hawking would have had to say about being used like that. Peter Wieck Melrose Park, PA |

Also, the use of first-order crossovers in an MTM would seem to disqualify it from being called a d'Appolito configuration. Otherwise, nice but pretty standard stuff. Kal |
