Default USB MP3 player - cigarette lighter

This small gadget plugs into the cigarette lighter and your USB thumb drive
plugs into its top. It has a built-in FM transmitter that broadcasts the
MP3s on the thumb drive to your car stereo. About $25-30 from eBay and
Costco.

Anyone have any experience with this item? Good or bad. Particularly if
there was any damage to the car's electronics.

Thanks in advance.

From what I've heard about those, they work just fine and shouldn't
even be ABLE to damage anything else in the car. The only negative
thing, really, is that because the information is being transmitted
(FM), you'll lose a lot of sound quality.

Ill agree with that, FM modulation is absolutely horrible when it comes to the output quality. I was using a iroq2 fm modulator and a modded i2go (1gig cards capability) and the quality was crap. Major difference noticed when i stepped up to a new HU with aux inputs.

The only thing I have to add to this is that you can get them from
Walmart for $15 (scoshe) and $30 (vr3).
