Quick product review: Fireport 1394 for the Alesis HD24
Quick because there's not much to say. The thing set up with no problems.
The software installed painlessly and is very easy to use. A set of files that would have taken about an hour and a half to transfer to computer via the Ethernet link took about three minutes with the Fireport. Not to mention how nice it was to just pull the drive out rather than set up the whole HD24 in it's traveling rack to get to the files. If you routinely need to transfer large files to computer from the Alesis HD24 recorder, you should take a look at this little gem. Here's the link to the product information: http://www.alesis.com/product.php?id=2 Cheers, Walt |

I could never get a complete transfer without the system hanging. Maybe it's because recording 2 hour sets give me long files, but without the Firepod, the HD24 would be a major drag.
