The gravitational field of the silica in the windsheild will cause
quantum perturbations in lorentz-invariant space-time, inducing phase
shifts into the electromagnetic field in your speakers, making them
sound absolutely horrible.

If that sounded like bull**** to you, then go ahead and mount them in
the dash. Be advised, other people will tell you about phase-shift
induced colorations caused by the windsheild - it's just as much bull****.

Nothing wrong with it.

I like to cover exposed speakers with some type of cloth so the Sun doesn't
eat them up.

Remember, high freqs sound better when pointed "at you". Unlike bass which
can successfully ( usually) come from the trunk. Bouncing off the windshield
doesn't sound too bad. :-)

Especially if your installation choices are limited.

I usually like the sound of tweeters on or near the dash. Try it and see
if you like it also. Some people do temporary mounting for a few days
or so to see if they like the location or not. If not, no big deal, they
move it before making permanent changes.
