Where does the airy nature of the sub amp, the high damping factor, the
warmth of the sound, and the precision of the control of the cone come into
play?

When bridging, although I have never found it to be that noticeable to the
ear.

You have argued that thier are sonic differences in amps, but I did not see
that in your list of reasons. Now you are saying that you have not found it to
be noticeable to the ear. Which is it?

The basscube is a subwoofer volume controller that allows you to choose the
frequency of boost and the Q.

The bass boost is a totally waste, most hu's have that built-in. If it was
bass restoration that would be a diiferent story such as the epicenter. If

i'm
not mistaken PG had something like it called a basscube, it just never

became
as popular as the epicenter for some reason.

Wow. Really a serious question?

My PG ZX amps are extrememly flexible. Continuously variable LP/HP

xovers.
Selectible LP/HP/BP RCA outputs. Dash-mount sub control. Digital
diagnostics port (never used these personally, but maybe one day).

Variable
speed cooling fans. Small size. Bass boost (never used this very much
either, but I can totally see why a LOT of people would need this based

on
their personal preference). And complete connectivity to a lot of other

PG
amp accessories. I love my amps. Features go a LONG way for me.

I wanted to quote something from the Feb/March issue of Mobile
Entertainment. I just adds to that which many of you have already stated:

MYTH #3: (of the top 5 sound-off competition myths) GET A HIGH-END AMPLIFER.
"A watt is a watt. I doubt most people can hear the difference between
amplifiers unless you push them into clipping anyway." -Scott Buwalda.

I won't list all his IASCA championship trophies, but they're quite
extensive.

Externally bridgable amps come into play here such as the Directed 600D
and 1100D. Crossfire 1000D also comes to mind and a few others that I
can't remember the model numbers to at the moment. Can be had relatively
inexpensive on ebay or even sometimes in a shop and produce balls out
power. I don't quite recall on the older-style Directeds, but the
current style have synced gains wherein when the gain or other features
are set on one amplifier, the amp that is externally bridged to it uses
those same settings. Really quite a time saver when setting up bi-amping
subwoofers, etc. Quite popular for the dBDrag crowd. I have several
older and newer style myself.

That's why I never biamp a sub. I can't think of many reasons why you would
have to, unless you're into some really exotic dB drag stuff.

120amps.

If it's underrated, then it's not a 200 watt amp.

Mark is saying that it shouldn't be listed as a 200 watt amp, but closer to
a 1kwrms amp.

True, but never the less, it sells amps.

if a buyer has a minutes worth of common sense they will wonder why two amps
that have they same power rating are not in the same price class. anyone
that buys an amp based upon the power rating is a noBie

the only reason I don't like internal x-overs is there a few amps that have
a band-pass settings, if more had this I wouldn't use an external x-over. I
still need my DEQ-30 nothing's better.

So does anyone here like the US Amps products? I've looked in a couple of
them and they have a very solid design, at least the USA50HC, 100HC and

the
2000X looked good.

they're very good amps, only problem they're class A/B so you may need to
upgrade you elect. system. one last thing is that they are long like 20"+
so that is also a consideration for install purposes.

I spoke with Al.

I appologize for getting defensive to a few posts here. I do
appreciate and respect everyone's experience and opinion.

Its getting overwhelming trying to decide what amp to get. There's
just too many options out there. People keep suggesting more and more
different brands. There's just too many!!! Adcom, a/d/s, Audison,
Brax, Butler, Diamond, DLS, Genesis, LinearPower, McIntosh,
PhoenixGold, PPI, Xtant, Zapco...

If anyone has experience with any of these, please share your comments
as far as sound quality goes. (please name specific models) I
already tried Butler TDB-475, DLS Ultimate A3, PPI PCX-4125, and Zapco
C2K-6.0X.

Thank you.

great guy, all those are great amps, I would take a few weeks, months and
look at all the amps you can. to see how they fit in the car, intergrate
with your system. The Butler is a tube amp you have to like the sound.
Nothing on the DLS amps but the mids/tweets are above average. PPI is PPI
not great, but will give you every watt you pay for. and the Zapco is a
class leader lots of power and features if you can find a pre-owned one you
found a deal if not it's a lot to bit off.
