Default How do I connect the zone 2 IR link to my HK 325?

I just bought an HK 325 yesterday & was reading through the manual
about zone 2. It says that to be able to control the volume, etc., an
IR sensor link must be connected to the jack in the back of the
receiver. I have a remote extender (Recoton IR100) that has a
mini-jack so an infrared eye can be plugged in and hung over the
receiving eye of the equipment. Can I run a mini-plug to mini-plug
(mono) cable between the extender & the 325, or do I need a
proprietary device?
Thanks,

Chris
