I hear them called ultracapacitors. For the most part, they have extremely
high ESR and behave as much like a battery as a real capacitor. But they
are great for things like memory standby.

You could argue (as my physics professor did) that since electrolytic
capacitors aren't storing charge electrostatically that they are not
really capacitors at all. But electronically they seem to be.
