Opamp Labs Transformers
Has anyone here used and developed an opinion of Opamp Labs transformers, such as the T-25? Pricing seems to be
reasonable, and the metal shield is appealing. However, if there's a $7.50 Edcor transformer inside, that's not a deal. |

However, if there's a $7.50 Edcor transformer inside, that's not a deal. I haven't taken a T-25 apart, but I took a T-18 apart twenty years ago to change the pinout and it had a Triad transformer in there that was probably not as good as the $7.50 Edcor. The Edcors are actually pretty good if you can control the load impedance on them precisely. They are a hell of a deal. They aren't a Jensen but for $7.50 they don't need to be. BUT, the Opamp Labs units are in those convenient octal cans, almost ready to drop right into an Ampex or Altec device with a little repinning. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra.
