Default Speaking of Audition

I have been a CoolEdit owner since the first versions of the stereoapp and
the multitrack app. I made sure I upgraded to audtion to stay current. But
the few times I have tried to run the system in sync with a deck or use it
with an AVI for film work it has fallen miserably far from the mark. I can't
recall the myriad of problems now.. but it was pretty much unusable. I use
Nuendo here for most everything but I like Audition's interface and wanted
to have it availble for some things.. like noise removal.. or having someone
working on fx scenes while the Nuendo rigs are tied up.

Same for everyone?

Nope. My CEP/Audition system is synced via an RME HDSP9652 to an AW4416
where I do most of my tracking. I have no problems with it following the
time code in either direction. The keys are the quality of sync
capabilities of the sound card and the speed of the computer.

I was referring to TC / Deck control and syncing to AVIs for post work.

Might want to check the Adobe forums and Video suite (which is one
reason adobe bought CE in the first place).

It shouldn't matter. TC is TC, and if the signal and TC interface is good,
CEP/Audition will chase it just fine. IOW, I haven't had a problem with
this even as long as a decade ago syncing to video decks via extenal TC
gear. Syncing AVIs should be even more reliable than that.

Hmmm... take two: ;-)

So, your problem is strictly internal? Perhaps your disc is fragmented or
the cpu just can't keep up with the extent of live edits.

Are you importing the AVI into Audition? That works fine for me.

Cheers

James.

Oh.. I am not trying to trouble shoot it anymore.. it's just the way it is..
on any PC..
I also had a lot of trouble trying to use AVIs for different parts of a
scene..
Seems the TC offset feature was disfuctional. Still is, here anyway..

Audition was just simply not ready for prime time yet.

Well.. not really true.. there is certainly a difference when getting it
over a serial port as opposed to TC / MIDI TC hardware with a sync
interface. Nonetheless.. syncing decks and systems is not hard.. been doing
it since the 70's with all kinds of gear so numerous it's like a blur. From
Servo sync to TC etc.. So it is easy to evaluate a particular software's
capabilities failry quickly.
I have Nuendo running on all of the same PCs that Audition is installed on.
No deck control problems and I can place AVI start times anywhere with
repeatable, dependable results.

I am pretty sure that these tests were also done with the current builds of
Audition.

Don't get me wrong.. I am not down on the app.. for what it costs, compared
to Nuendo's price tag, it is fine. I did have hopes of expanding a couple of
systems for less demanding work using Audition but I may have to wait..

I did address this problem at the time with Adobe, thoroughly.. they
admitted it was a problem and , as usual, said that fixes might be coming..
