You have no idea what Jesus might have said. All you
have read is what someone else said that Jesus said, The same can be said of all of us on almost every subject. and you are not reading it in the same language as it was written. Don't be too sure about that. Have you ecery seen the Movie "History of the World, Part One"? Remember the scene about the Fifiteen Commandments? :^) |

Five and a half hours later the doctor came out to tell us that the surgery
was a success. They had removed all of the cancer from my brother's brain. It wasn't ganglion so they got it all in one operation. The bad news was that the brain cancer was secondary; that his body was full of the disease. We cried but still trusted God as best we could. I must admit that my faith isn't as strong as some. I believed God but I had lingering doubts. Not everyone is healed and very few are ever healed of fourth stage cancer. Jesus never performed surgery, nor recommended drugs, exercise, diet, etc. Nor did his disciples. If God had healed your brother, the doctor would have opened his skull and found nothing that needed operating on. Doctors do not do God's work, nor do they ever act according to His will. Indeed, they act in a manner contradictory to everything Jesus taught and practiced. God does not need human beings to do His work. |

Please think about this. If I were a jew or muslim, and
you say that you will pray to jesus for me, that is an insult. Not at all, friend. If you were a Muslim and you said you would pray to Allah for me I would thank you -- not because I agree with Islam but because you expressed a desire that good things come my way. It is a blatant slap to my beliefs... Only if you are very unsure of thoise beliefs would it seem so. I don't need you or anyone else praying to jesus for me. Do you understand this or are you completely brainwashed by your beliefs. I remember telling someone almost the same thing a few decades ago. He prayed for me anyway. |

There are no absolute truths (except that Jesus is Lord). That has no
statement of your personal experience. You state it to be an absolute truth, not a personal truth. What more need be said. You can waffle and change the goalposts all you want. My argument is with your initial statement. It sounds more like your *real* argument is with Jesus. Read my other posts, and you'll find I have no problem with Christians... As long as we keep our mouths shut, right? I have a problem with those who have the audacity to state their beliefs as an absolute truth. You state yours with equal certitude. Shouldn't I also take offense? That you wish to believe in it is fine, that you wish to define it as an absolute truth is not, as it is not. Sorry, but I don't know any way to say it other than as an absolute truth. I can only say that I made a decision to believe many years ago and the results were nothing less than spectacular. For me that is proof enough. Note, however, that the proof is a result of a decision to believe -- not the other way around. And this defines Jesus is Lord as an absolute truth in exactly what way?? Like I said before, understanding of truth comes *after* the decision to exercise faith. There's no way to prove that which requires faith even to be seen. |

Naah. One can be an idiot with or without faith.
Yeaaah. You claim you made big changes in your life, and you're a big idiot now, so there's at least a chance you weren't an idiot before. I'd like to add that your idiotic proclamations about JEE-zus aren't insulting to some of us. They're embarrassing. I can't imagine how you people function with half the people you know thinking you're idiots. Not many people who actually know me make that assessment. I won't bore you with foolish boasting about IQ, SAT scores and such. I'll also refrain from insulting your intelligence just because I disagree with you. The most excruciating encounter I can remember with one of you is at a housewarming party a few years ago. One of [us]? What makes you think that all Christians have much in common with the character you describe? A friend of the move-ins asked... --- snip --- |

Whom _do_ you consider legitimate (if anyone)? I'm not talking about MDs.
Probably no one you've heard about. I don't put much stock in TV preachers or other self-appointed leaders. There's a preacher in a church I used to attend in Connecticut who showed himself honest and never did anything I know of to take advantage of anyone else. There's a man I worked with as a pridson outreach volunteer for over six years who spent much of his free time serving the lowest dregs of society, looking for the few who actually wanted to change enough to make a sincere try. When he had to retire due to health reasons I was appointed director of the outreach in his stead. I loved the work but I never fealt as though I could fill his shoes. One day I was chatting with him about how I fealt and he said, "They're not my shoes." I know an 82-year-old great grandmother who has spent a lifetime helping others and still does volunteer work two days a week helping the homeless. I'd rather spend time under the tutelage of folks like these than the likes of Jerry Fallwell and Jimmy Swaggart. I've worked on stage and in support roles at huge concerts where the top Christian rock groups from all over the world came to play. In the process I met some folks who were so full of themselves that they had obviously forgotten the children who came to hear their message. I also saw the leader of one of the top bands take time out to share his faith with a small group of pre-teen children. More significantly, I saw doctors, teachers, nurses, policeman and housewives spending their vacation time working hard to create an opportunity for children to hear the message that Someone loves them. These people impress me more than any TV big shot I can think of. BTW, a few years ago I volunteered when the Graham crusade came to Hartford, CT. By chance I was asked one night to watch the access area to the dressing rooms at the civic center auditorium. When Reverend Graham arrived I greeted him and was pleasantly surprised to have him take a couple of minutes to ask me about myself, my family and my faith. I always liked him. I was deeply saddened when he made a public statement a while back that I could not support. |

that price range I doubt that there are any significant differences between the Denon and the Yamaha. I think you're right. Most mid-priced amps sound like most mid-priced amps. The rest is just whistles, bells and connections. I've been using the RXV3000 for a couple of years and I enjoy it immensely. I also like my Martin-Logans a lot. But my brother's Thiels sound better. |

Jesus never performed surgery, nor recommended drugs, exercise, diet, etc. Nor did his disciples. You're wrong about that. If you send me a private e-mail I'll show you examples of each. Bear in mind that the term, "surgery" has evolved somewhat from its original meaning. If God had healed your brother, the doctor would have opened his skull and found nothing that needed operating on. Sometimes God does things one way. Sometimes another. We don't get to choose. Doctors do not do God's work, nor do they ever act according to His will. You're welcome to believe that if you like. Indeed, they act in a manner contradictory to everything Jesus taught and practiced. Some do. Some don't. God does not need human beings to do His work. That's not what the Bible teaches. |
