Default USB sound device.

I require a USB sound 'card' for testing. M-Audio seem to manufacture some
pretty decent stuff, for not a lot of cash. I could be persuaded to go to
Firewire, if there are compelling reasons. Any thoughts on the best model/s
to look at? I will certainly consider other brands. Any experience will be
welcomed. My intention is to use Sound Technology Spectra Lab with it.
24/96kHz is a minimum. 24/192kHz, rec and play would be nice. Although the
Lynx stuff looks great, it is well outside my (present) price constraints.
