amp speaker question
hey there. If the deck you purchased says it can provide 50 watts per channel, chances are thats either 50 watts max, or 50 watts when only 1 channel is running. so your speakers probably wont be getting anywhere near 50 watts a peice at normal levels. as for powering them, most companies say there speakers can handle up to say.. 50 watts. that doesnt mean it needs 50 watts, that just means anymore then 50 is overkill. usually 5-50 watts for a 50 watt speaker will do. You wont necsarily blow a speaker by over powering it, you will blow it by playing it harder then it wants to be played. If your listening to music, and its getting distorted and staticy chances are you need to turn it down, the speaker is working too hard. putting a 100 watt amp on a 50 watt speaker shouldnt be bad itll just get louder faster, just listen for distortion. -- Basshead ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Posted via RealCarAudio.com - The checkmate of the car audio community. http://www.realcaraudio.com Basshead's Profile: http://www.realcaraudio.com/forums/m...fo&userid=1163 View this thread: http://www.realcaraudio.com/forums/s...?threadid=8024 |
