Default Fixing driver surround attachment

I have a Vandersteen speaker with a buzz. The high bass driver cone
has become separated from its surround. How can I fix it best? The
cone is some sort of plastic and the surround is rubber. The speaker
is far past warranty.

Stop using it immediately. You probably have a rubbing voice coil. If this
continues for any amount of time, the voice coil will rub through, and
become open.

Someone who knows what they are doing might be able to shim the voice coil
to recenter it, and reglue the surround.

It may already be far past help. Contact Vandersteen for a new driver if one
is needed.

* It could be the separated edge of the surround buzzing.
* Try securing it with a piece of tape and see if the buzzing quits.
*If it is the voice coil rubbing, you're on a path to replace the
driver.
*I've fixed surrounds on 3 different drivers succussfully without
ever needing to shim the coils. *The repair is fairly easy,
getting it to look factory new is not.

You can probably get the necessary parts here
or have them repair the driver.

or you can get surrounds at a half dozen surround suppliers
on e-bay and the web.

he probably should replace both surrounds, if the surrounds
are the only problem. It would be best to take them
'to someone experienced in glueing them together properly.
