MOTU 828MK2 USB on a laptop
I'd like to change out the Edirol UA1000 USB2.0 sound interface I'm
currently using for the MOTU 828mk2USB box. This would be on a Toshiba Satellite laptop, 2.53 GHz processor, 1 gig ram, 3 native USB2.0 ports and ! FW400 port. Why not use the FW version? That port is currently feeding my Poco Firewre dsp box and a Glyph hard drive. More than that seems to make the FW port go bonkers. I do have a PCMCIA card slot open, but finding a FW card that actually states that it's got the TI chipset (which is one of the chipsets MOTU recommends using) is very difficult. So, I'd like to go the USB route. I don't record more than 4 inputs at a time, so channel count isn't a biggy. Any thoughts on this particular MOTU unit? I've heard that there may be bumps in the road. The OS is Windoze XP Home SP1. -- de N2MPU Jack Modeling the NYC/NYNH&H in HO and CP Rail/D&H in N Proud NRA Life Member |
