I've never heard of this mic. What makes it worth $200 street?

It's an omni for ENG work.

It's an **omni** for ENG work.

Correction: it's a _cardioid_ mic for ENG.

Yes, it is. While $200 is not a lot of money for a mic, it's a lot more than $75
for an SM57 or SM58. I'm wondering what the benefits are.

It's Sennheiser's version of the 635A. It's a little cleaner and a little
more omni than the 635A, and it has a little less handling noise.

I wouldn't pay $200 for one, but I am cheap.

Ahh, I am thinking of the MD42. Sorry, I haven't used the 46, only the omni
42.

Having not heard the microphone, I can't say why it is double the
price of the SM58, but I can say that you would need to try the
microphone in your situation in order to make a decision whether or
not it is worth that extra money.

I recently bought a Sennheiser MD441 and it is indeed worth 10x the
price of a Shure SM58 to me. You'd have to have a use for it and the
sound that it produces. Looking at a spec sheet won't tell you
anything about what it sounds like.
