Intel processors
I am kind of lost when I am looking up intel processors tonight. I see
they have made a processor with HT technology, and now they have a new Pentium D. I am going to be working with Reason 2.5, and I do tend to use a lot of processing power . I guess I don't know which technology would be better to have for my musical applications. I typically run 1 program at a time, but I have been known to multi-task. I would assume to just buy the lastest and greatest. What do you all think? |

And to those who are not familiar with the differences in the
processors, I would still like to hear what kind of computer set up you have for your home or professional studio. wrote: I am kind of lost when I am looking up intel processors tonight. AMD Athlon, 98SE. DISCLAIMER: I've been using AMD since the beginning and am familiar with the issues that can develop with the various chipsets. A non-tweakhead who wants to plug-and-play should probably stick with a common Intel P4. Avoid the distractions that can take away from creativity. Getting burnt at the bleeding edge a few times has caused me to NOT be an 'early adopter'. rd |

Buy AMD? It may not be a clear cut choice for single core processors, but I found a text somewhere explaining that the AMD dual core design appeared to be wiser than the Intel dual core design. This one's an Athlon 1400 clocked at 1540. The extra speed warms it up by about another 2C. W98SE, Only 256M ram actually but cachemanager tells me I always have plenty left. 2 IBM 60G deskstars confiured as a raid mirror completes the more interesting stuff. It's just my home desktop PC.
