Paul McCartney Hey Jude London Olympics
Hmm, not sure this link will work ....
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/tv/bbc_...ndon/watchlive Hey Jude started off out of sync, with the keyboard player/programmer frantically trying to get things back into sync. All the while broadcasting Pauls live lead vocal over his pre recorded one, which was unfortunately miles behind. Oops. |

Er, on further listening it sounds like maybe a monitor mix is being broadcast way before FOH? Weird anyway how this can happen on such a big show. |

"Gareth Magennis" Er, on further listening it sounds like maybe a monitor mix is being broadcast way before FOH? Weird anyway how this can happen on such a big show. _______ I was about to say: A shoddy monitor mix or levels could have that effect! |

I wonder if they'll apply bandages to the audio by the time it's broadcast here in North America. Sir Paul's crappy vocals at Live Eight (I think it as Live Eight) were promptly replaced, although not in time for the day-of broadcasts. He said he used his stature and celebrity to make it happen, insisting that his live vocals could not be used on any distribution of recorded audio or video. |

Well, if they'd just left McCartney and his bad wig back in the old folks home, they could have asked Jimmy Page to reprise his tour-de-force from the close of the Beijing Olympics. That would have been worth listening to. d |

It was on par with the reast of the ceremony IMO, crap :-( I wonder if they'll apply bandages to the audio by the time it's broadcast here in North America. Not surprised, I can't say I've heard a good live performance from him for many years. Some singers manage to sing as well as ever into their 60's and 70's, many don't. Trevor. |

I thought the lighting of the cauldren and it's design were quite good. Can't think of anything else though. Trevor. |

Personally I found the massed ranks of militarized humanity at Beijing ultimately offensive. Danny made the ceremony exactly what we are - irreverent, quirky and individual. d |

Sounded like 2 identical sources with different EQ's playing maybe 2 seconds apart though. Could have been just the BBC feed echoing, but the keyboard player seemed to be scrabbling frantically at something, and looking in panic towards Sir Paul McCan't sing too well thesedays. Gareth. |

When we see some old rocker still performing it makes us feel young providing they look and sound good. I thought Chicago in Chicago was a good concert. They were good.
