distortion at the end of a CD
Hi,
I have made an audio CD which is nearly 80 minutes long. when I listen to it on any audio CD player the last track is really distorted (sounds like an FM radio that isn't tuned in properly). It only plays properly on the PC. anyone else had this problem? are 80 minute CDs allowed by the red book standard? or was is just that something went wrong in the burning? Andy |

An audio CD player should play it the same as a PC drive.
A Philips-built player might be an exception. There could be a problem with that disc. Maybe re-copying it would be a good idea, since it seems to play ok on the PC. Turns out it was overburned, so I guess that is why it wouldn't play.
For some reason, overburning didn't seem to work on my new recorder, so I can't make a copy "Mark D. Zacharias" wrote in message ... An audio CD player should play it the same as a PC drive. Not always true, many older audio cd players cannot cope properly with the tighter spiral of the 80 minute cdr's. Same with many first generation computer cd drives There could be a problem with that disc. Maybe re-copying it would be a good idea, since it seems to play ok on the PC. Mark Z. |

This is whyI mentioned Philips specifically. I've been servicing these
things for over twenty years - that's the only brand I've seen have troublewith CD-R's or longer discs when not actually malfunctioning. Usually problems of this sort are caused by cleaning issues, deteriorated lasers, defective media, and the like. The original poster has already posted back that the disc was overburned (in excess of 80 minutes). Mark Z. -- Please reply only to Group. I regret this is necessary.
