Default Things I learned on Reddit...

€’ 4dB of dynamic range is too much. If you have too much dynamic range and your music is played over the sound system at Target, all people will hear are the transients.
€’ It is perfectly normal to mix all your music for Spotify, because Spotify will always exist and be the primary way people listen to music.
€’ -8 LUFS is the minimum recommended level for a finished track. Preferably hotter. This has nothing to do with the Loudness Wars; its just how music sounds.
€’ Headphones are a great way to mix because they take the room out of the equation.
€’ Bass traps are the first and most important acoustical treatment you should plan for a room.
€’ Foam doesnt do a thing. You might as well put egg crates or paint on a wall.
€’ Any room that is not rectangular is a problem and necessitates advice from others on Reddit as to where to put the speakers.
€’ Autotuning every individual note of a singers performance is not only the expectation these days, but necessary because no one sings in perfect tune.
€’ Its a good idea to compress the two-buss before you send something to mastering.
€’ The ideal mastering is a track thats so good nothing else needs to be done.
€’ A 9-band equalizer built into a Behringer mixer is useful for €œringing out€ an SR system.
€’ The more plugins you have, the better an engineer youll be.
€’ There are many recording studios willing to hire young engineers off the street. Anyone who tells you otherwise must have an agenda.
€’ The best way to buy a musical instrument is online based on advice from Internet forums.
€’ Education is a waste of money because theres so much good information on the internet.
