Default fitting of sony cdx-gt310

I have a new sony cdx-gt310 car audio system which appears to be
"standard" size in to my ford fiesta, but the existing radio is a ford
standard and is twice the size of the new one. How can I fit the new
one properly?

Thanks

Alec

Ha, ford fiesta...Anyway, it's likely not 2x the size, it's probably
1.5x . . . Anyway...

You'll need to buy an adapter kit for your year, make, and model
vehicle. They can be found for around $20 at almost any place that
sells anything having to do with car audio, even big box retailers such
as WalMart and Target.

If your heart is set on that CDX-GT310, you should be able to get a
faceplate that will neatly fit your new head unit into the larger opening.
If you're open to getting something that fits perfectly out of the box, try
using Crutchfield's "outfit my car" feature to see head units that fit your
car.

I'm planning to get the same head unit. If you install it, tell me how you
like it.

Lou3, this "faceplate" you speak of is an adapter kit.

You'll need a fascia adaptor and a harness adaptor. In all likelihood
this'll be an Autoleads FP0700 and a PC2084, but that may vary
depending on the exact age of the vehicle.
