real audio settings
there must be some saavy computer person out there who can tell me how to
rid myself of the last vestiges of real audio on my system. the problem is that cdplayer.exe does not now play my audio cds. yes, i have tried holding the shift key down and choosing "open with" and the cd player does launch but does not play. so, i went to folder options and edited the association to point to cdplayer.exe and still no luck, even though all the icons are the windows cd icons. if i really promise never to download or use real player again, can someone tell me how to get my cdplayer.exe to play my cd's again? thx. |

Assuming you're using Windows Media Player, open it up and go to
Tools and then Options. Under File types, check the "Music CD Playback" box. If you want to take it further, right-click on the cdplayer.exe shortcut and copy the full file path, including the inverted commas at either end. Then go to Explorer, Tools, Folder Options, File Types. Select "Audio CD Playback" and then on "Advanced". Select "play" and click on "edit". In the "Application Used to Perform Action" box, highlight the area from the first to the second set of inverted commas and replace it by pasting the cdplayer.exe filepath from your clipboard. That should do it. You've evidently had more luck with removing Real One's icons than I did - all my CD player shortcuts have been well and truly hijacked by the pesky things. Good luck with your CDs. I've found Windows Media Player works just fine for them.
