Default Sony Antiquated PCM Machines

2001 CD by Collectables. Various Artists! A (partially stolen - review)...

You remove those antiquated Sony PCM machines from the digital audio CD equation, and you gain greater audio applause!...

"Generally CDs manufacturered during and after 1999 sound better than those manufactured prior to 1999, in my opinion. This CD breaks that rule. Collectables must have done some experimenting with sound quality in 1997. Most of the songs on this CD sound far superior to recent Eric, Ace, Rhino, BMG & Sony releases of the same song. I make this judgement by looking at the meters on my professional recording equipment, a Tascam CD-RW402. By starting the songs at the same time, I can alternate between the Collectables version and the more recent release version. The sound quality goes up when switching to the Collectables Ultimate Rock & Roll 60's version. But it's not just observing the sound meters. Most times the bass comes in much stronger, etc. It's just a much better listening experience. Please note that, with digital recordings on CDs, the sound meters aren't necessarily showing just the sound volume. To me, the more the sound meters stay at the maximum during the song, the better the sound re-mastering job that was done on that song. This is expecially true of the 2002 Rolling Stones Hybrid SACD releases by ABKCO. I'm using a Yamaha RX-V995 amplifier and Sennheiser HD-600 headphones".

Take notes, KMA!

Which meter scale are you referencing - digital(peak based) or analog.
Sounds like you are a pro-loudness advocate after all.

Of course louder sounds better, due to the nature of how humans
hear, and what you think sounds "better" is purely subjective.

Just teasing Mr. KMA. But, this is what I've been saying all along, you use a DAW or DAS (Digital Audio Software) and audio improves on CD. Sadly, a bit too late, as I claimed Y2k (when CDs "sounded" better). However, those "record companies" took the opportunity to "fix" what they previously published, and altered the downloadable music!

However, some still use the primitive methods (DAW or DAS) and "improvements", aren't actually realized, or things turn for the worse.

No, I desire greater detailed sound and that is what I achieve.

What happens if you use PFA (Programs For Audio), ATDAM (Applications
That Do Audio Manipulation), CBAES (Computer-Based Audio Editing
Software), AVPS (Audio Video Processing Software), DUMP (Digital Unified
Mastering Programs), SPAM (Stereo Processing Audio Manipulators) ,
CSFPWDHAC (Computer Software For People Who Don't Have A Clue), or SFA
(Software For Audio, or is that the 'other' SFA ?).

Most people when they are actually dissatisfied with sound quality, LP, 45, CD, etc., begin buying pieces of audiophile gear thinking that will make a difference. They even REACH (Really Expensive Audiophile Contoured Headphones). With my method of audio improvement, even a cheap pair of Philips Headphones will make you believe all the Bose engineers helped design them!

DAW = Drab Audio Work

You seem so proud of your crappy headphones that would veil everything
to the point that you think painfully shrill 'remasters' are somehow good.

You certainly don't need EXPENIVE headphones to tell whether something has been remix, you just have to listen! Recent CD, waveform looks like from the '90's, something Trevor would like, but not good enough for yours truly, so I digitally enhance so I can offer the best sound quality...

And, now, I'm becoming international, with some recent applause from Bernard in Brazil! sticks tongue out
