Default Goodmans GCE 7340 MP3 Volume Glitch

Recently got this and installed. Works fine, but the controls on the front
panel don't respond in a timely fashion (if at all), even though the remote
works fine, so I use that. However, at rather random intervals, it will
take upon itself to thwack the volume to full blast or total silence, with
no possible remedy (end up having to remove the face-plate as it becomes
totally unresponsive, and when you're going along the motorway at 70 the
last thing you want is a sudden ear-destroying burst of distorted heavy-
metal). Anyone got any ideas?

Appears to be due to vibration, maybe a switch buggered in the faceplate?
