Default yamaha receiver with no microphone input, how come?

Hi, I have a yamaha receiver, but it has no microphone input.

I would like to sing karaoke with my notebook, I can connect the
notebook in the DVD input, but where and how to connect a microphone?

Also If I play the DVD input with the notebook with karaoke, I think I
cant let another input (such us TV or CD or AUdio Mon, or Phone)with
the microphone connected to it (only in case that I can do it) to play
simultaneously, I mean listen the Karaoke and listen the mic.

Is any other cheaper way that buying a mix controler?, my new
notebook doesnt have the capability to play karaoke and listen a
microphone attached to it.

Please help.

Thanks
andrei

I've never seen a mic input on ANY consumer home stereo receiver?

The new Yamaha high-end model(s) will have a twist on the old real-time EQ
with microphone trick:

They'll have a microphone and do the adjustments automatically using the DSP
circuits.

I got this from their top service guy last week. Don't know if any such
models are out yet.

Some of the older McIntosh preamps have a Mic input, but none of their
receivers ever did AFAIK.

Andrei,

my new notebook doesnt have the capability to play karaoke and listen a

microphone attached to it.

Are you sure? Check again, and especially look in the Windows mixer (if it's
a Windows computer). All desktop computers can play the microphone input and
Wave/MP3 files or audio CDs all at the same time. Assuming your computer has
the standard mixer, you just need to enable (un-mute) those inputs and set
their volume sliders to the levels you want for each source.

Sansui 9090dB had 'em with their own volume control knob.

There are several DVD players that have karaoke mike inputs, most of
them chinese makes. My Apex has this feature.

My old Sansui 7070 has one with a level control. Great for plugging in the
'old geetar.
