Behringer EP-1500 & 2500 versus QSC RMX controversy
The Behringer EP-1500 & 2500 versus QSC RMX controversy has been all over
the SR & audio production web sites and newsgroups, and I'd like to see it settled factually. At his point I'm willing to agree that mechanically, the Behr EP 1500 & 2500 have more than a passing resemblance to the QSC RMX. http://forum.licht-geluid.nl/forum/t...&TOPIC_ID=7252 compares the back panels which are highly similar. The dip switch is a particularly interesting common detail. The front panels are similar, as well. Here's an EP1500 cut-away: http://srforums.prosoundweb.com/index.php/fa/129/0 Compare the power amp module shown there to the ones shown at http://store3.yimg.com/I/qsc_1787_2014491 and http://www.qscstore.com/rmxmodas.html The circuit cards seem to be quite different. QSC's has parts on both sides, but the Behr card seems to have parts on just the top. Therefore the Behr has many more passive components that are visible. The QSC module has a very conspicuous multi-pin connector in the middle of it, running across the board. No way are these boards photocopies of each other. There seems to be no possibility that the Behr circuit cards are anything like exact copies of the QSC boards. I've seen all the RMX schematics, but it would sure would be nice to see a Behr schematic... There have been some comments suggesting that the RMX line might be OEM designs, but the RMX schematics show that they have the historical distinctive QSC design elements. |
