Default Linaeum LT-1000 speaker question

I have owned some very nice Linaeum LT-1000 speakers for the last 10
years, they have served me well, great sounding speakers. Especially
for what I paid for them, $400. They were made in 1979, as far as I
know. They are a little weak in the bass, they were known to be that
way. I have been thinking of replacing the 8" woofers and hoping that
someone out there can point me in the right direction of something
that will give me a little better low end.

If anybody is familiar with these speakers and can make a
reccomendation I'd appreciate it.

Thanks, Tom

I do not recommend attempting to replace the woofer. This transducer
was specifically chosen for and integrated with the crossover on this
loudspeaker system. It is unlikey the speaker would be sufficient if
you replaced it with another model transducer. Instead, I would
recommend looking for a high quality subwoofer and actively
integrating the subwooofer by using a line level 4th order 2 way
stereo crossover at 70 hz or so. If you can manage stereo subwoofers,
each within very close proximity to the main speakers, then it would
be preferrable to integrate at approximately 80-100 hz IMO.
