1994 Firebird w/ the 10-speaker stereo option ( not Bose or Monsoon ).

Blaupunkt Heidelberg CD51 head unit and a set of Focal 6.5" Access 165 CA's
were installed using the existing wiring.

The speakers were sealed into the factory door openings. Inside each door
opening, I found what looked to be a resistor. Maybe it was a high-pass to
keep very low frequencies away from the woofer, but i removed it completely
from each opening.

Has anyone had any luck doing something similar?
Do I need an external amp to drive these speakers optimally?
Is there anything I can do with the factory speaker locations ( front
doors ) that will allow better bass response?
