Default radio kaput - light but no sound

while listening to the radio en route to work this morning, the sound
suddenly went flipping between max and low and nothing - the
station/clock indicator began flashing away - so i shut the radio off
thinking there might be an electrical prob...all car systems checked
out fine - a/c works, lights work, windows open/close, no drain on
battery indicator....turn radio back on - no sound - volume control
indicator does not respond to turning the vol control knob....station
buttons reflect change when pressed; radio switches between
fm1/fm2/am....'94 camaro orig equip bose single cd/radio...is the amp
blown?...repair or replace?

thanx for any info

probably just the headunit. The bose systems go out all the time in older
cars and I found it usually just the headunit went bad - especially in
Nissans!

Default thanx - part 2!

started car to go home tonite - and the radio spluttered a bit going in and
out - got sound! so i turned it off and did not bother with it until i had
been on the road for a while and noticed that the clock display was
flickering from bright to dim - hmmmmm! so i turned on the radio and got
the same on/off spluttering - at one point the volume came on at the
absolute max even though the control knob indicated that volume was all the
way down! absolutely no response to playing with the volume control - was
just gonna stay at the max - so i turned the radio off. but the clock
display would still flicker - whenever it wanted to! and sometimes it would
appear to totally fade out!

why would the clock display flicker? well, anyway, i just left the radio
on, it would come on and go off whenever it felt like it, and the display
would switch from station display to clock display whenever it wanted to, as
well as brighten and dim whenever it wanted to.

who do i take this to for repair - other than a dealer!

thanx for any and all replies.
