Default 3m m56 heads

Can anyone help me? I need a record head or head block for a 3m m56. doesn't have to be in mint condition just lappable. I have scoured the earth and have so far not had any success. hopefully someone may have a lead....

You might try Wes Dooley. He used to service 3M machines or know someone
who still has some parts.

As far as I know, nobody is making them any longer, although John French
may be able to graft some replacement heads onto that machine.

The guy to talk to is French, really, he is very much the clearing house
for anyone with heads for sale or anyone buying heads. Another place is
Allen Sound, which bought out most of the Mincom parts from the company
that bought them out when 3M shut down production of those machines.

8-track 1" heads might be easier to find than 16-track or 24-track sets,
if you're not particular about format.

I suspect it might be possible to graft the Flux MM24 heads into that machine
with some shop work, though you're still talking $6000 before you even start.
