Great, thanks for the replies. I'm planning to use a 16 track hard
disk recorder as my A/D. Will I need to word clock it as a slave?

It could also be the master.

I'm simply going to use channels 1 and two and send them out of the
digital SPDIF output.

A 1010 seems to be overkill.

It does. A 1010 is too much.

On the 1010 control panel hardware tab be sure to select external sync and the 1010
will sync to the imbedded clock in the spdif in. I do it all the time.
