Total cost of surgery was $47,000, of which my co-pay was $300.Maybe it doesnt work for everyone, but it sure saved me a lot. I know health care needs a major overhaul in America for a lot of people.I hope it is resolved. But there are good plans still out there, and I had excellent quality of care from my surgeon and his staff. Hi Randall, If you don't mind my asking, how much do you pay a year for this coverage? Assuming you needed some after treatment, how much of the physiotherapy after did it cover ? $23 a week for 52 weeks, or about $1,200 a year. Doctor visit is $15 for regular doctor, $35 for a specialist if referred by your primary doctor. $10 perscriptions for generic, but some have been as high as $40 for newer medications. $150 a day copay for admittance into hospital , my bill came to $300 for the surgery stay at hospital. Every aspect of the surgery was covered, other than copays above, throughout the entire procedure. This included 4 after surgery doctor visits, x-rays, MRI's, CT scans, and the physical therapy sessions were $5 each for 12 visits. The injections prior to surgery where they try steroid/painkiller injections directly into the joint were $200 copay each, and I had 4 of them.So that was actually more expensive ti me than the surgery. Randall You did exceedingly well with your HMO. Mine was $1524. a year when I lived in the States, though it would have only covered a portion of catastrophic stuff like operations and hospital stays. It's now $884. (in US funds) for the Canadian coverage which would not have cost you anything extra except for the perspriptions which I understand are also cheaper in Canada since we aren't under the thumb of the major drug companies and can purchase no name brands of the same drugs. |

"S O'Neill" wrote in message ... Nope. Those of us who voted for Nader knew exactly what we were doing - you vote for someone that will likely get 5% of the votes and the republicrats will want that 5%; and at that point there was no useful difference between the two majors. Except it turned out the Bush regime had the election rigged since early 1999 and has had a hidden agenda for over a decade. Wow, you really think after the last three years that there would have been no difference between Al Gore and GW Bush? |
