I found the holy grail that explains audiophile beliefs

No bigotry implied, of course. Of course. No need to imply that which is explicitly expressed. But what is the meaning of "exp(j*pi/2)"? Is this some kind of irrrational exponent of meaning? If you can't figure that out, you are even more ignorant than I previously assumed. We're all left hanging.. Pray tell, who exactly are we? Chris Hornbeck |

I found the holy grail that explains audiophile beliefs

The Berklee Performance Center in Boston and also the Channel in Boston had a bunch of Altec amps. They sounded pretty good and were huge. Berklee changed it all out for Meyer gear and the Channel went under. I wonder what happened to them. I also found a nice big stash of the older ones in the projection booth at the Capitol Theater in Flint Michigan along with a wall of replacement tubes. it was basically abandoned and must have been Christmas come early for someone! The Williamsburg Theatre here in Williamsburg, VA. had a complete 4-track magnetic Cinemascope rig installed back in 1954. In 1983 they contracted with a company in North Carolina to "upgrade" their sound system. This company went through and pulled all the Altec amps, which they sold in Japan. They replaced those amps with McMartin paging amplifiers. What is MOST horrifying is that they pulled all the Altec 600B drivers from the full-range surround cabinets to sell in Japan, replacing them with Radio Shack guitar speakers. All the front end stuff went as well. Everything. It's all probably on display in someone's house in Tokyo today. And I am sure they got more for selling that stuff abroad than they did from the theatre owners. --scott -- "C'est un Nagra. C'est suisse, et tres, tres precis." |

I found the holy grail that explains audiophile beliefs

I have proven PhDs wrong before, but I would hate to get so far into it I have to discredit Fourier in the process. What I am saying should be as obvious as the sun rising but now a few people are telling me the math doesn't lie, so I may have to attack some faulty math or the way it is interpreted. I was bored when I came here and now I am getting seriously frustrated. You have considerable effort to expend. Fourier is well prepared for your attack. Only a quitter would submit to failure via proclaimed frustration. -- ha |

I'm done with you. Actually, you're just done; have your old lady stick a fork in your ass and flip you over. Then get with the Fourier bustin', big guy. Be lookin' for your name in lights any day now. -- ha |

I strongly advise you to sit down with some graph paper, so you feel like you are 'enginering' and draw yourself a picture. You can live with your 'blind' faith. Later. Disprove Fourier, Nyquist, Shannon. You parked your brain and left your mouth running; now let's see some action. -- ha |
