What is your purpose? What are you planning to do?

In the simplest terms, audio mastering amounts to adjusting the product so
it will survive the shortcomings of the storage/delivery medium.

The best is the book "Mastering Audio, the art and the science" by Bob Katz.
This is pretty much the ultimate reference for mastering.

A good second book, although not nearly as in depth, is "The Mastering
Engineer's Handbook" by Bobby Owsinski.

Of course the best instruction will come from a real-live M.E. in a true
mastering studio, but I'm sure you already know that.
