Default Audio Snake Oil Dies Another Death

The DBT that Stereophile lacks the integrity to do for themselves.

http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volum...s-12-2004.html

"On November 13, 2004, Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity teamed up
with the Bay Area Audiophile Society (BAAS) to conduct a blind AC power cord
test. The purpose of the test was to determine if a small group of
volunteers could make a statistically significant differentiation of sonic
differences between an assortment of generic power cords and Nordost
Valhalla power cords."

"The total number of correct answers was 73 out of 149, which amounts to 49%
accuracy. That is no more accurate than flipping a coin, and therefore, no
statistically significant detection of power cable differences"

False claim. This wasn't a DBT, as you would know if you actually read
the article.

The TEST that BAAS lacks the integrity to do for themselves.

"On November 13, 2004, Secrets of Members of the Hives teamed up with the Bay Area
Audiophile Society (BAAS) to conduct a test using AC power cords. The purpose of the
test was to determine if mysterious hush-hush members of The Hives could make a
statistically significant contribution to local blood banks after their throats had
been slit halfway between their clavicle and lower jaw and then strangulated with an
assortment of generic power cords including my favorite Nordost Valhalla power cords."

"The total members of the Hives who died was 148 out of 149, which amounts to 99%
accuracy. That is more accurate than flipping a coin, and therefore, statistically
significant that none of them made it to blood bank clinics."

HaHa !

False claim. This wasn't a TEST, as you would know if you didn't chicken-out
from the experiment.

Quite agree. ;-(
