I just received a Mackie SDR 24/96 that had been marked as blemished. For
$300 savings I decided to take my chances and I knew I could send it back if
it didn't work properly. Well, I just may have to send it back. The
digital inputs all work and that is what I will mainly be using, but the
first analog input is dead. The first question, I know, is if I have it set
up correctly. Yes, I do, and I can get signal on both of the other analog
inputs, but not 1-8. Could the connector be loose and it's an easy fix? I
can send it back but that will take a while as there are no more "blemished"
SDR's right now. What should I do, try to fix it or send it back and wait?

Absolutely send it back, don't void your warranty by trying to fix it
yourself. They turn things around pretty quickly I hear and you will get one
that works a lot better and has the most current firmware upgrade. Also you
should go over to Mackie's website and read the discussions about the SDR for
info about subjects like alternative hard drive caddies, what models of hard
drives work in the SDR and how they have to be set up, and more.

I think that I recall that the analog I/O connectors are mounted
directly to a circuit board on the SDR (you can open the cover and
look) so there may not be anything for you to re-plug.

You might carefully go over the input routing setup (page 17 in the
manual) and be sure that tracks 1-8 aren't set up for digital inputs.
