Electro-Voice EV 635a used for the lead vocal on what HIT recordings?
Just curious...
What are some specific examples of the EV 635a being used on well known songs? My understanding is that some of Elvis' hits at RCA were cut with the 635a in his early days there. Seems like Shure Unidyne III (SM57/545 series) studio "stories" are more ubiquitous BTW. Thanks Chris |

Elvis may have recorded on a 630 or a 635 in the very early days.
The 635a came along a little later, IIRC in the early 70's. It was used on a lot of tv shows which you can see on many old tapes of music programs. It's still the field radio reporter's mic of choice as you can see on most news and sports broadcasts and is very useful in some studio situations as well.
