Default VST instruments -- run through a good Mic Pre?

Hey, shouldn't we be running our VST instruments through a decent stereo mic
pre/channel strip? Like Neve, Avalon or UA or the likes?

It just seems they are so sterile inside the PC -- they never leave the
digital domain. What's the best way to do this? Should I use a dedicated
PC for VST instruments, going into the converters of the "tracking" PC?

Thanks,
Jeff Baxter

Why? They don't need any gain.

You should use real instruments played by real musicians. Sorry, whatever
sterility you get is not going to be helped with processing.
