Question on power drain of battery with head unit wired to constant source
I will be installing an Alpine head unit soon and was curious how much
power is drained from the battery in the constant source? Is it minimal? The only reason i can think of using this source is because of the clock. Is there any advantage to using the constant source over the switched source? Thanks. |

There is hardly any draw on the battery when the unit is off. It is used for keeping the clock and your memory presets from resetting. If you hook up both power sources to the switched source, your clock, radio presets, bass and treble settings will all reset to default every time you turn off the key. If you hook both to constant battery source, you will have to manually turn the unit off when you exit the vehicle |

If yes then you dont need to have it on a constant live to keep the clock settings. The switched live will turn off the HU when the ignition is off and the constant live will keep the clock, radio sations, etc. in memory. |
