Default OK then , wots magic about eq, gain, and stuff ?

There are only a few ways of connecting components to achieve particular
functions , especially in opamp-based circuits. Is a particular
configuration better because some pom put his name to it, when a kraut, jap,
or chink with a $2 calculator could come up with the exact same components,
values and connections ? Which way the traces go on a PCB doesn't cost
anything. Competent PSU design, psu and earth routing and decoupling also
isn't difficult.

The variables would appear to be passive component quality, semiconductor
quality (very much simplified with opamps - you pays yer money and makes
yer choice), a few things about impedences, a good PSU and , um, whatever.
OK, some mechanical factor make for longevity too, but none of it is rocket
science (though most internation manufacturers have a firm grasp of both
imperial and metric systems, unlike NASA).

So unless el cheapo manufacturers conciously choose really crappy bits to
save a few %, what's the jis on electronic mystique? Why can't Uli make
something taht sounds identical identical to Mr Oban (without even having o
rip off more intellectual property than Electronics 101-and-a-bit ? Or does
Mr O, Neve, the great Mr River, or whoever have some secret ?

Hey, even pooh's friend (not Graham, different pooh) can make monumental
f'ups with oscillating boxes, and still come up smelling like roses.

Apparently, things that are gold-coloured sound better.

The super cheap stuff is always a copy of some else's designs. When there is
no money at all in the market, there will be no new designs. How many
companies have to go bankrupt before other enraptures are scared out of it?
