I mentioned to a friend that I wanted to set up a surround sound system
in a small condo but my wife wouldn't wont wires running all over the
place. He suggested wireless. That makes sense except I wonder if
there are any audiophile grade wireless systems out there. Does anybody
know?

Don't know of any, but there is a Bluetooth "speaker adaptor" D-Link
DSM-920BT that I would guess is designed to feed either a separate rear amp
or powered speakers...don't really know anymore about it than its intended
purpose. You might wish to explore this option.

There are wireless systems for rear speakers ( samsung, I think) that
probably aren't audiophie quality, but I'll bet are fine for raer channels.

Also there are video extenders that send 2 channel audio and a video
channels to remote locations. Theses could be used with amps and speakers,
or powered speakers for better fidelity.

Surely the front channel right and left speakers will not cause an unsightly
wiring problem. But if so there are flat wires that are inconspicuous. There
are even some that are so very thin that they can be adhered to the wall and
then taped over and painted over like a drywall seam for an invisible
installation. In addition to inwall speakers there are many on wall
speakers that are no deeper than a plasma TV.

The only problem with an audiophile grade wireless system is that the
signal is transmitted through the air, so you have to fill your room
with oxygen-free air ;-)
