Default praise for Apple Tech support

I have posted before about the quick turnaround times I've seen when
my powerbook G4/667 has had to go in for repair. Typically I get the
computer back within two days. Ordinarily, that would qualify for a
"kudos to Apple". The real problem isn't with the phone service or the
repair time. The problem is that in the three and a half years I've
owned the thing it's had to be sent back four times. That's too much.

When the track pad started acting screwy yesterday I called tech
support. I asked for a product specialist and commented that my
Applecare Exteded Warranty was about to expire. I asked that the
machine be given a thorough test, assuming that the next time it went
in for repair it would be on my nickel. I wasn't abusive or demanding,
and he seemed to really take my concern to heart. He put me on hold
for about five minutes. When he came back on the line he told me they
weren't going to repair it for me. They were replacing it instead with
a brand new current model 15" powerbook. It should be here Monday or
Tuesday. How about that?
