Default Where does a good reel-to-reel recording compare?

Does anyone have any experience with reel-to-reel sound? If so, how would
you compare it to other formats such as the original master tapes,
high-end
vinyl recordings, SACD, etc.? Thanks in advance for sharing your
experience.

Best regards,

-DJ

1. "original master tapes" are reel to reel tapes (generally), so I don't
understand that part of the question

2. my experience wiht my Tanberg deck is that at 7.5 ips I can't hear the
difference between tape and LP, but I can at 3 3/4 - this is, of course if
you use good tape and a good cartrige

3. for comparision to CDs, see discussion of CD versus LP.

4. cheap tape or cheap tape units will induce hiss and other artifacts
