The most excruciating encounter I can remember with one of you is at a
housewarming party a few years ago. A friend of the move-ins asked me

Prove it....that is such a scam. If there was an validity
to this healing thing some scientist somewhere on
the planet would have acknowledged this. It would
be well documented by some OBJECTIVE person.

My older brother was diagnosed with fourth stage cancer almost five years
ago. He had lung cancer from 40+ years of smoking. It had spread to his
brain and adrenal system. There was a golf ball size tumor in the center of
the brain. The surgeon said he had a 50/50 chance of surviving the
operation but that in any event he would not last five months as the cancer
had metastasized. I learned of this less than 24 hours before he was to
undergo emergency surgery.

I got a flight reservation and arrived at the hospital only minutes before
they would wheel him into the operating room. Most of the family and many
friends were already there. I asked the doctor to wait a moment, got
everyone around the gurney and we began to pray. I don't know any fancy,
memorized prayers. I just asked Jesus to save my brother's life. We all
prayed together and I figuratively handed my brother over to the Lord. Then
they took him away.

Five and a half hours later the doctor came out to tell us that the surgery
was a success. They had removed all of the cancer from my brother's brain.
It wasn't ganglion so they got it all in one operation. The bad news was
that the brain cancer was secondary; that his body was full of the disease.
We cried but still trusted God as best we could. I must admit that my faith
isn't as strong as some. I believed God but I had lingering doubts. Not
everyone is healed and very few are ever healed of fourth stage cancer.

The operation was on a Friday in late December, right after Christmas.
Eight hours after the surgery my brother awoke; disconnected the monitor
cables from his head, chest and arm; got up and walked out of his room in
the intensive care unit. This triggered an alarm and the nursing staff came
running. They made him go back to bed. The next day when we came to visit
he was sitting up, telling jokes and asking for his favorite breakfast, ovos
rancheros -- spicy, Mexican-style, scrambled eggs. On Sunday he was
released from the hospital. The doctors said his progress was unbelievable.
But he still had cancer in his lungs and adrenal system. He was still under
the sentence of death.

We continued to pray, grateful for every day that we could still share with
my brother. After a month or two he went in for a chest X-ray. Something
was wrong. The doctor looked at the film and opened the previous one again.
The cancer in his lungs was shrinking! Within three more months it was
completely gone. A lung biopsy showed lots of cancer cells -- all dead and
in the process of being slowly absorbed, replaced by pink, healthy lung
tissue.

We finally had real hope but his adrenal system was still full of cancer.
Another biopsy was ordered. The doctor pulled out sample after sample from
my brother. There was no sign of a living tumor. This year we will
celebrate my brother's fifth cancer-free Christmas. We thought we would
never have another one together.

You can dismiss it all as luck, medical treatment or whatever you like. My
brother asked his doctor what he thought had happened. He said, "It's a
miracle. You were healed."

imply that I believe anything regarding these alleged fantasies. AFAIK they

Perhaps I was unclear. I have looked at RAO maybe twice in the six+ years
I've been active on USENET. One thing I have noticed is that whenever
there's a newsgroup war on any forum both sides claim (and probably believe)
that the majority of other participants stand beside them. In most cases
neither is right.

I came here to share my ideas and to learn from the ideas of others. That
