Modern Mfrd. Excellent Tubes
Guitar Amplifiers Too!
_The_Winners_ : 12AX7 Preamp: Electro Harmonix 12AX7-EH-GB. GOLD PINS (Equivalent to: ECC803S) (today's Mullard / Telefunken at reasonable price- The system balancing was an official part of the original Telefunken ECC803S datasheet). 6L6GC Power Output: SED Winged =C= (The control grids are gold plated and the tube sounds every bit as rich and detailed as the original RCA 6L6GC blackplate from the 1960s.) |

FA: Gassy, Shorted Metal Base GZ34/5AR4 Tube
Bret Ludwig wrote: Audio Goodies wrote: http://cgi.ebay.com/Amperex-Metal-Ba...-Tube-TV2-57F_ Are these the kind that short out all the time? If that is a genuine Amperex tube, unlikely. They are somewhere between the GE (poor) and the RCAs (fair), but not as good as the Mullards or Sylvanias. From the pin base view, it looks genuine Old Stock, but the brand is indeterminate from the pictures supplied. I would like to have seen those numbers shown. Nuts on the price. I have a small fortune sitting in my Rectifier Drawer, it seems. It is the Chinese 5AR4s that melt down commonly. It can be quite spectacular. Peter Wieck Wyncote, PA |
