Default mabuchi motor for JVC

I have a friend who has a JVC portable music centre which cannot play any
cassettes because the motor which drives it has burnt out. I have been in
touch with JVC who say they do not supply the parts for that model anymore
because it is so old. Can anybody suggest an alternative motor which would
be compatible with it?. The only details I have are :-
JVC PC-X110
EG-530YD.9BH
DF944224
9VDC 2000-4000RPM
Any help would be appreciated

Most of those kind of components are not stocked by anyone
for consumer repair purposes. It is even likely that it was a
custom job for JVC and was never available otherwise. Of
course you have already searched for each of those numbers
on Google.

Best bet would be to find another dead unit and "harvest"
spares out if it.

It might be possible to find a replacement BY DESCRIPTION
(dimensions, including shaft diameter, RPM, voltage, etc.)
But that is an extremely long shot and I wouldn't bet 100:1 that
you could do it.

Alas, the same proliferation and customization of components
that creates small, multi-functional, inexpensive products at the
same time makes them nearly un-repairable when they break.
The other side of the coin.

Ah as its a PCX110 that explains the 9v motor part.
If you can live with just one speed then a standard 2 wire motor connected
to a suitable power rail should do just as well. don't connect the extra 2
wires (speed ctrl) to anything

Man.

Those other replies are WAY wrong. Determine whether you need clockwise or
couter-clockwise rotation. Probably 80% of all cassette's use
counter-clockwise. A 9V Mabuchi two-wire, speed adjustable motor can be
ordered from MCM, East Coast Transistor parts, many others. The motors
currently available may not be quite as good as those sold 15-20 years ago -
oh, well. They cost about 5.00, but the companies usually have about a 15.00
minimum order.
