Default Old MOTU gear

Is there any way to use an old MOTU HD192 or 2408 'Audiowire' type

I'd have to say no, unless you'd consider changing your concept of a
"laptop" to something that's relatively portable. Dell has a small
format desktop case that's about the same isn't too much bigger than a
modern laptop and if you get one that's old enough, it'll have a PCI bus
slot that will accommodate the card that you probably have in your
present computer. You could have a two-bag portable solution with one
bag for the computer, interface, and computer, and the other for a
monitor, keyboard, and a pair of headphones.

A more sensible person would get a modern multichannel USB interface to
go with a more modern laptop. But a sensible person, also, would be
bothered by the fact that you probably won't be able to get any money
out of your present MOTU interfaces.
