AMS radios have nearly identical freqeuncy response to FM radios.

This is unlikely. Stereo FM is essentially flat to 15kHz, and rolls off
(sharply) above that only because filters are used at the transmitting end to
keep HF program material from messing up the 19kHz pilot tone. To match that
response, an AMS radio would occupy a 30kHz band.
