There are plenty of music oppertunities outside of the "record biz".

I think it is rather shortsighted for people to think that the "record
biz" is the music business, or playing in smoky bars and hauling gear
gig to gig is a second rate substitution for making money selling
"recorded" music.

People who do these things, do them not because they have to, but
because they want to, how could doing what you want the way you want
ever be second rate, or less than doing what you don't want to do, but
is someone elses idea of the prize?

People make money recording music without having to sell it in album
form, there are so many other avenues to market music to, music is
everywhere.

I hear the same complaints over and over but they never do anything to
change thier situation. Someone else isn't going to fix it for you,
you have to make what you want your reality.

If someone really beleives that playing in smoky dives is hell then
they should be doing something else, besides sticking with it night
after night and day after day and complaining, they should find
another path in music, because to someone else that smoky dive is a
little bit of heaven.
